Archibald is the founder and leader of The Flock. His early years in a Swedish band were formative to his personal development and helped to guide him in creating a place where all avians can live in peace and harmony. (DOB 08/2018)

Gladys was the second bird to join The Flock, and she is Archibald's partner. Gladys is known for her quiet demeanor and long, beautiful tail feathers. (DOB 07/2019)

Cruella de Vil is the most austere bird in The Flock. She is a descendant of the Maeda samurai clan of Sosuki Gaji, Okinawa, Japan. Braided cords made of her native bamboo adorn her military armour. She represents the first wing of defense for The Flock. (DOB 07/2022)

Americana immigrated to the U.S. from the region of Krokbragd, Sweden in July 2022. He is a student of international relations at Birds' Institute. He was given the nickname Americana by his peers -- his Swedish name is Treshaft Punktkypert. (DOB 07/2022)

The Pink Lady is a tribute to Olivia Newton-John. She dons pink attire (made of linen and a silk/wool blend) to symbolize her role as one of the Pink Ladies in Grease and her battle with breast cancer. (DOB 08/2022)

Fred, the famous avian of the detective series Baretta, whose real name is Lalah, is the cutest bird in The Flock. Fred did not always possess a strong physical appearance, however. As a developing baby bird, his body struggled to retain its feathers, delaying his growth, and he almost died several times. (DOB 08/2022)

Auntie Hum is a by-product of the Waste Not, Want Not paradigm. She was made from the plain-weave header (the initial cloth that is woven to spread out the threads and check for problems) -- a.k.a., the scrap area. While Auntie Hum sprang from the humblest beginnings, she has become an esteemed member of The Flock. (DOB 10/2022)

How did Auntie Hum receive her special name? A naming contest was held during the 2022 Working Weavers Studio Trail. Of the many suggestions put forth, Lauran Vieland's was thought to be most fitting by my daughter.

Lavender was an orphaned dove who was befriended and adopted by Auntie Hum. (She is also a by-product of the Waste Not, Want Not paradigm. Lavender was made from the plain-weave header woven at a sheep to shawl event.) Today, Lavender travels throughout the U.S., marketing her line of essential oils and fragrances. (DOB Unknown)

Pepe is a very flamboyant and high-spirited artist, and he is a member of the talented Wednesday Wings, a group of unique creators and thinkers who can take something as simple as a ball of yarn and turn it into the most unexpected treasure. (DOB 01/2023)

Pepe enjoys exploring the possibilities within crochet and origami.  He is so empassioned by these crafts that people say they are in his blood. 

Ichabod Crane owes his name to my friend and fellow weaver, Trish Colson-Montgomery. He reminded her of the lanky character in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. (DOB 05/2023)

Ichabod Crane's lineage goes far back in time. Many years ago I designed an asymmetrical two-block turned twill towel. In 2023, I finally got to weave the design. Ichabod emerged from a narrow sliver of the cloth. Here, he is mystified by the framed flowers painted by my friend and fellow weaver, Elizabeth Greene.

This brother and sister duo have remained close throughout their lives. They both are highly skilled artisans, and they also share a passion for collecting rare and valuable books. Their dream is to build a museum for their collection, for future generations to enjoy. (DOB 08/2023)
