Weaving Gallery

This cloth is part of a collection of samples being woven to show how changes to the tie-up and tabby order impact the pattern. Small Single Snowball is a four-shaft pattern in Josephine Estes' Miniature Overshot Patterns. For this study, I converted the four-shaft draft to a profile draft. Then I translated the profile draft to an eight-shaft draft with independent blocks. 

The stair-step pattern is created with the clasped weft technique. The striped pattern in the warp (vertical threads) is based on the fibonacci numbers. This cloth was used for one of my birds, Uncle Hymn. The warp is cottolin.
